Let’s go monochrome this Halloween if you want to really stand out from the crowd.

Halloween is always a fun time of year and no longer just for kids (was it ever?) There are parties happening all over to celebrate or more likely, just an excuse to dress up and get glam.
I have a look in mind for you that I’m excited to share, and I am keeping it simple for the more inexperienced make up wearers amongst you.
Its a monochromatic look and can be worn more lightly or adapted for a full on glam look. Monochromatic makeup is the technique of keeping your eyes, lips, and cheeks within one shade range — and it's really big right now.
1. For a change I’m encouraging you to go for a full coverage base. Not too matt, we want a little bit of luminosity to the skin. My favourite is Make up Forever stick foundation. It covers but it also glows, it’s amazing. Set with powder to keep it in place all evening. MAC mineralise skin finish powder is my all time favourite.
2. Using a very cool toned contour shade or bronzer, hollow out those cheeks and make the cheek bones as sculpted as you can. An angled contour brush is ideal for the job. No highlighter!!!!
3. Let’s exaggerate those brows a little by extending them out and and making the arches that bit higher. Use your pencil or brush to darken the top row of your brows from the arch to the tail. That will lift them. This is a dark vampy look, so think a little bit of Morticia Adams but modernised.
4. After applying your eye shadow base as usual you are going to take a deep pinky toned shadow, and really work it into the crease of your eyes using quite a large blending brush. Start off with little on the brush until you get a feel for the texture of the shadow. Gradually blend it out until there are no hard edges to be see. It takes patience, but it pays off.
5. Using a smaller blending brush, you are going to use a dark plumy or rich purple shadow to really darken the outer corners of the eyes and across the lids. It does go over the first colour. Blend blend blend until it’s seamless. Press the colour into the lids for more impact. This is where you can choose how bold you want to go.
6. The dark purple should fade out into the pink for a delicious smoky eye which is blended to perfection.
7. Line the inner water line of your eyes with black kohl pencil and top with black gel if you have it for extra oomph and staying power. Apply also to top lash line.
8. Trace along the bottom lash line with the dark purple and or pink .
9. Lots of mascara and lashes.
10. Finally using a lipstick as close to the colour of the shadow as you can, blend it into your darkest lipliner.
11. If you want to sparkle it up you can, but i prefer the dark and mysterious vampy look.
Ideally worn with a sleek hair style rather than the typical bouncy blowdry. A modern, sleek version of the heavy make up looks that are so popular right now.
